Thinking Ahead - Presentation

I'm going to enhance my presentation space by using a well-planned color theme and eye-catching visuals. I'd like to have a mini handout to give out and a copy of my book to put on display. Maybe I could have a little station where you can take your blood sugar.

Discuss look and feel issues:
a)     Will your presentation use comedy and humor or is it serious?
Serious business
b)     What colors, fonts, design layouts, graphs, photographs and other imagery are appropriate for the topic?
Simple, easy to read fonts, mellow colors (blues, greens, golds), photography and drawings
c)      How is your site, video and print material persuasive?
It uses pathos (emotional appeal)
d)     How do you make your point of view understood?
By seeing through the perspective of a child with diabetes
e)     Are you intending to create:
  1. a resource for children hospital using bright cheerful colors
  2. a clean corporate economic presentation with shades of blue
  3. an industrial prototype of an energy efficient car
  4. an essay on the seriousness of world hunger
  5. a presentation a low cholesterol diet with pictures of vegetables and fruit

Statement of Intent

  1. Capstone Project Statement of Intent:
a)     Identify the goals of the project.
My goals are to inform children and adults about the emotional experience of children who are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
b)     Why is it important and why should we care?
In order to better understand the struggles of a person with chronic illness, you have to know how they feel about their issues. This is especially true when it comes to children, because they are often largely driven by emotion. To prevent prejudice from adults and other children in their environment, I’m going to write a children’s book detailing the experience of a child with type 1 diabetes.
c)      How do these goals fit with your career objectives?
I’m an artist, and I seek to express different facets of the human experience.
d)     How does your project give back to society?
It can improve understanding of others in society and allows greater knowledge of type 1 diabetes in children.
e)     Address the Richland triple bottom line.

How I Made my Poster

I primarily used one picture for my poster, of a boy reaching for a cupcake. The fonts I used were Tipbrush Slanted and Earth's Mightiest Heroes. I also used a polka dot texture with low opacity to make the background more interesting, and a couple of filters.
